Our legacy communications network was becoming dated and was clearly not going to support our significant growth strategy over the next 5 years. We really needed a solution that was quick and easy to deploy, whilst being robust and reliable in our heavy use retail environments.
Jaguar Telecom explored at all the options and subsequently proposed a 'Hosted VoIP network' which could be deployed using the existing broadband lines in store.
I must say that I was concerned at some of the negative feedback I had received with regard to VoIP, but we gave it a go and it has worked extremely well in the stores we have placed it in. We also run 17 extensions in our head office and, following the installation of a 6Mb leased line, we are very happy with the reliability and ease of use.
We now have a tried and tested process for rolling out communications in our new stores and, once each ADSL line is installed, the 'off the shelf' nature of the solution means we can be up and running very quickly. Store's can call the head office and any other store by simply keying the extension number, and each of those calls are free. We have created hunt groups and individual call plans for the in-store personal finance counters and we also have a DR facility that can be used at the click of a button, from any internet connection.
